For instructors

Today, the roster and in-class mode

Run a class: take attendance, add walk-ins, manage waitlist, take notes, and use in-class tools.

Today, the roster and in-class mode

Your Today screen is the centre of your teaching day. This article covers everything you can do from a session card and inside the roster.

A session card

Each session shows:

  • The class type and color
  • Start time and duration
  • Number of booked students vs capacity
  • A status pill (Upcoming / In progress / Done)
  • A Start action when you're ready to begin

Tap the card to open the roster.

The roster

Inside the roster you'll find:

  • Each booked student with attendance state buttons: Attended, No-show, Late
  • A Bulk attendance action to mark the whole class at once (e.g. mark everyone attended after a workshop)
  • A Walk-ins action to add a student who showed up without booking
  • A Waitlist section showing who's queued for spots that open up

Tap a student row to open their profile modal: their notes, the last classes they attended, any flags from the studio.

In-class mode

When you start a class, ClassKeep enters in-class mode:

  • The session is pinned at the top of Today as a Live session card
  • A floating action button gives you one-tap access from anywhere in the app
  • You can take quick voice notes
  • You can use a class plan checklist if your studio has one
  • You can mark late arrivals with the exact minute count

When the class ends, finish from the same hero card to lock in attendance and notes.

Notes

Two kinds of notes:

  • Session notes — visible to your studio admins (e.g. "AC was broken, students complained")
  • Student notes — attached to a single student, also visible to admins (e.g. "Knee injury, no jumping")

Notes count toward your retention reporting and help everyone — including substitute teachers — give a great class next time.

Substitution

If you can't teach a session, your admin can mark it as needing a substitute. Eligible instructors are notified and can accept; once accepted, the session moves to the substitute's Today.
